A new letter was placed on the Initial Sound Tray in the Toddler 1 classroom this week.  The students explored objects that begin with the sound “l”, such as a ladybug, lollipop, leopard and lettuce.  Because this lesson is practiced individually, each Toddler is able to absorb as much information as he or she is ready for at that time.  For students acquiring English as a second language, the objects are a wonderful way to practice new vocabulary.  Children who already recognize the objects by name may begin to notice the pattern of the initial sounds.
