Hispanic Heritage Month Activities

September 15-October 15, 2015 is Hispanic Heritage Month (Mes de la Herencia Hispana)!  There are a many family friendly local activities and events that celebrate Hispanic culture, language and identity. 

Here are a few activities suggested by Ms. Rose, Upper School Spanish Teacher:

The Frida Khalo Art, Garden, Life exhibit at the New York Botanical Gardens continues through November 1.  For more information: http://www.nybg.org/frida/.

The National Museum of the American Indian will host a Hispanic Heritage Family Day on Saturday, September 19, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. The museum is located in lower Manhattan.  Admission is free.  For more information: http://nmai.si.edu/calendar/?trumbaEmbed=view%3Devent%26eventid%3D115371603.  

Be sure to check out the Smithsonian’s other Hispanic Heritage Month offerings, especially if you plan to be in Washington, DC .  They have numerous activities planned and admission to all Smithsonian Museums is free.
