Recently, the water table has been full of dried beans, which the Toddler 2 students love to transfer from one basin to the other.  They enjoy experimenting with pitchers, spoons and scoops to investigate how to accomplish this task. When two students noticed that some beans had escaped the basins and fallen on the floor, they took it upon themselves to clean up the mess.  They took turns searching under the water table and persisted at this task until every last bean was back where it belonged.  Toddlers’ natural sense of order and desire to care for their environment are evident in the way these children applied themselves to what could have been an overwhelming job.
