Please Mark Your Calendars – 12:00 p.m. Dismissal Time on Wednesday, November 25.
ALL students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m.
The school will close at that time and there will be no AfterSchool activities.
The school will remain closed on Thursday and Friday, November 26 and 27, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
WFM Holiday Cards are now available! Please click here to see this year’s exclusive WFM Holiday Cards, designed and sold by the third through eighth grade students. Please feel free to share the link with family and friends: shop.wfmkids.org. All proceeds from purchases of holiday cards go toward school trips in the spring. Our students deeply appreciate your continuing support!
2016-2017 Admissions: Siblings of current students receive priority in admission as long as the older child continues to be registered at WFM. If you are planning to have a younger sibling attend Waterfront Montessori next year, please submit an online application through www.waterfrontmontessori.com by Monday, December 7, so that we may reserve a space for your younger child. In the ‘Other Information’ section, please indicate that you are submitting a sibling application.
The Upper Elementary students will host their annual Poetry Night on Wednesday, December 2, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Upper School Multipurpose Room. Light refreshments will be available to purchase, and those in attendance will have the opportunity to place orders for the Upper Elementary poetry compilation book. Proceeds from the event go toward the spring trips.
We invite you join us for the next K/A Coffee on Thursday, December 3, from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m., in the first floor Lower School Multipurpose Room. Every other week, Karen Westman, our Head of School, hosts drop-in coffees for WFM parents. No RSVP is required and the coffees are open to all WFM parents. Please stop by the first floor Lower School Multipurpose Room on Thursday, December 3, to stay current on what is happening at WFM. We look forward to seeing you there!
As the temperature drops, please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather in a warm coat, a hat and gloves. Our playground and PE areas are right on the water and can be colder and windier than other parts of Jersey City.
This is also a good time to check the extra clothing that your child keeps at school. Please make sure he or she has the correct size of clothing, including long pants, a long sleeved shirt, socks and underwear, stored at school.
For the Upper School:
Ancient Fire, the WFM FIRST LEGO League Robotics team, will compete in a Qualifying Tournament on Saturday, November 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Clifton High School in Clifton, NJ. Family, friends and Lower Elementary students (with parent) are welcome to attend the event to cheer on the team! For more information, please contact Mr. Eddie, the team coach: email@example.com.
On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, which is a half day, the Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary and Middle School classes have a Thanksgiving feast. Each child may choose to bring food or drink to share with schoolmates. Please watch for your child’s permission slip and check the food sign-up sheets on the attendance clipboards next week.
For the Lower School:
Flu Vaccine: New Jersey State Law requires all students under five years old as of October 1, 2014, who are attending school in New Jersey to receive the influenza vaccine before December 31, 2014. If your child is required to have this vaccine, please provide proof of his or her flu vaccination for our records. If we do not have proof that he or she has received the vaccine, we must exclude the child from school until he or she receives it.
If your child has had to change clothes at school and has borrowed clothing from WFM or from a classmate, please remember to launder and return the borrowed clothing to school as soon as possible. There is a charge for clothing that is not returned. We appreciate your cooperation!
We are glad to have your family as part of our WFM community. We hope that you will visit The Flow often and share what is happening at Waterfront Montessori!
