Sign-In Procedures (all campers will be signed in by a staff member)

Entering the School Premises

  • Campers will place all outside materials in a cubby, box, or cart that has been assigned to them.

  • Campers will change from their outdoor shoes to their indoor shoes.

Entering the Playground

  • Campers will proceed to place their lunch boxes and their belongings on a cart. The cart will not accommodate bulky items.

  • Campers will be encouraged to sanitize their hands frequently.

What To Bring (all items should be clearly labeled with the child’s name)

Clothing

  • Camp T-shirts are required to wear each day. Each child will be given two camp t-shirts in the color assigned to the child’s age group. If wearing a camp shirt is not possible, a clean t-shirt of the same color as the camper’s camp t-shirts is required. Extra camp t-shirts are available for purchase ($15.)

  • On Tuesdays and Thursdays: water play bag with a swimsuit, water shoes, sunscreen stick and towel.

  • A hat for activities in the sun is required as well.

  • Loose, elastic-waist shorts are recommended for both girls and boys unless it is cool outside, in which case long pants are appropriate.

  • Two pairs of slip-on or Velcro closure athletic shoes are required:

    • one pair to wear to school and use for outdoor activities

    • one pair for inside and indoor activities

  • No belts, suspenders, overalls, onesies or other one-piece items that make it hard for the child and/or staff to manage while toileting.

  • A full change of clothing, including socks, that will remain at the school through the camp session.

  • Each child must keep a sunscreen stick at school (no bottles.) Please apply sunscreen to your child before sending him or her to camp. We will swipe each child’s nose, cheeks and forearms with the sunscreen stick before sending them outside.

  • If not toilet trained, a week’s supply of diapers, Huggies pull-ups or other pull-ups with side Velcro closures. We can work with diapers for children who are not toilet trained, although we prefer pull-ups with side Velcro closures to foster toilet-training by helping the child to recognize when they have urinated.

Lunch/Snack

  • 11:30 a.m. - Lunch for 2 year olds. Toddler pickup will be AFTER Lunch.

  • 12:00 p.m. - Lunch for 3-6 year olds.

  • Parents provide lunches for their child. Please label the child’s lunch box and all containers.

  • All lunches should include a cold pack. A frozen juice box or water bottle can suffice. The school has a microwave on the premises and can warm a child’s lunch, if necessary. Please use microwavable containers.

  • Mid-morning snacks will be provided.

  • Water to drink will be provided on the playground.

  • No sodas, candy, junk or excessively sugary food.

  • No Lunchables or other foods that require excess preparation unless the child can execute the preparation without assistance from staff.

  • No nuts of any kind are permitted in the school. Please see below for our Allergy Policy.

Naps (for children under the age of 5)

  • Children who remain at the school past lunch will be given the opportunity to nap.

  • Parents provide the cot sheet and a blanket for their child. Cot sheets are available to parents for purchase in a package with a small blanket for $20.

  • Cot sheets and blankets must be washed each weekend and returned to the school on Monday.

  • Please note that we will not force any child to nap. If they do not sleep, we will allow them to rejoin camp activities.

  • Not every child naps. Please let us know if yours does.

Miscellaneous

Any strollers must fold compactly as they are stored in a vestibule that is also a fire exit. Lightweight umbrella strollers work best for us. Otherwise, we will have to park the strollers on the sidewalk outside the school.

Tardy Policy

Late Arrival/Pick Up

  • Late arrivals are strongly discouraged as latecomers disrupt scheduled activities.

  • Parents/caregivers are expected to be prompt. Children will be ready to leave 5 minutes before their departure time. Chronic lateness will cause us to ask you to withdraw your child from the camp.

  • Parents/caregivers are to wait outside the school until the child has been signed out and is released to them. Please do not interfere with the children as they are walked from the school to the playground and back.

  • Each family is allotted one late pickup. After the first infraction, parents will be charged $25 for late pickups between 15 and 60 minutes. Every additional hour thereafter will accrue a charge of an additional $25.

Parents

Camp Communications

  • Our main outgoing communication channel for families is the ParentSquare app. It sends posts to both the app on a phone and to the email address to which the account is registered.

  • Please make sure to enter a cell phone number in the app as it can send you texts in the event of a school emergency.

  • If you wish to speak with a teacher, you may send an email to them at parents@waterfrontmontessori.com with your query. Staff will respond as soon as practicable.

Unpaid Summer Camp Tuition

  • Children will not be permitted to attend camp until all outstanding summer camp tuition and fees have been paid.

Registration Package Forms

  • All forms included in the Enrollment Package must be completed and returned to the school on or before the first day of a child’s attendance at the school. State regulations require that we keep these forms on file for each child; no child will be permitted to attend the camp if the forms are not completed.
