A challenging new Toddler 2 Practical Life activity is making bubbles with soap, water and a wire whisk.  This piece of work requires the child to follow a complex sequence of steps: After putting on a smock, he or she first carries a large pitcher into the classroom next door and fills it up to the line with water from the sink.  Next, he or she carefully carries it back to the classroom and empties it into a large bowl.  Then, the child adds a few drops of dish soap and whisks until a pile of soapy bubbles has formed.  Finally, the child carries the bowl of bubbles to the water table and empties it into the basin.  Spills are actually quite uncommon, as the children take pride in using the work with great care.  However, when they do occur, it is all part of the learning process to mop up and begin again.
