For several weeks, the Toddler 1 class has been learning yoga poses at circle time.   First, everyone quietly takes three deep “ocean breaths” to relax and prepare their bodies.  Then, one by one, they carefully balance and stretch, trying to create the pose Ms. Audrey is demonstrating.  So far, the children have enjoyed learning downward-facing dog, boat, butterfly and tree poses.  Now, a yoga mat and several picture cards are available so that the Toddlers may choose to practice yoga independently whenever they wish.  Doing yoga offers the children a chance to explore the different ways they can use their bodies, provides a constructive outlet for physical energy and gives them an opportunity for a peaceful rest in the classroom whenever they feel they might need it.
