Two central concepts in the Toddler 2 Math curriculum are numeral recognition and learning to understand and reliably count quantities from one through 10. Once these ideas have been established, students can then learn to match numerals with corresponding quantities of objects.  Throughout the year, a variety of concrete materials help the children to internalize these important concepts.  Early in the process, the students use counting “control” cards that display both the numerals and the quantities.  Once they have mastered these materials, they begin to count objects without the control cards, a much more challenging activity.
