The school will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 26 and 27, for the Thanksgiving holiday. We hope you enjoy the long weekend.
WFM Holiday Cards are now available! Please click here to see this year’s exclusive WFM Holiday Cards, designed and sold by the third through eighth grade students. Please feel free to share the link with family and friends: shop.wfmkids.org. All proceeds from purchases of holiday cards go toward school trips in the spring. Our students deeply appreciate your continuing support!
We invite our Kindergarten parents to visit the Upper Campus and see the amazing things that are happening in the Elementary and Middle School. Please contact Chris at 201.333.5600, x103 or email@example.com to schedule a personal tour and classroom observation. As you prepare for your child’s rise to the Elementary years, we would love to show you our Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary and Middle School!
The Waterfront School Foundation is sponsoring two collection drives this holiday season as community outreach: a food and supply drive for The York Street Project (please see their wish list) and a coat drive for Jersey Cares. Please bring your contributions to the school offices by December 8 and help us support these worthy causes. For more information please see the recent email from the Waterfront School Foundation or see the flyers near the school entrances.
The Upper Elementary students will host their annual Poetry Night on Wednesday, December 2, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Upper School Multipurpose Room on the second floor. Light refreshments will be available to purchase, and those in attendance will have the opportunity to place orders for the Upper Elementary poetry compilation book. Proceeds from the event go toward the spring trips.
We invite you join us for the next K/A Coffee on Thursday, December 3, from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m., in the first floor Lower School Multipurpose Room. Every other week, Karen Westman, our Head of School, hosts drop-in coffees for WFM parents. No RSVP is required and the coffees are open to all WFM parents. Please stop by the first floor Lower School Multipurpose Room on Thursday, December 3, to stay current on what is happening at WFM. We look forward to seeing you there!
2016-2017 Admissions: Siblings of current students receive priority in admission as long as the older child continues to be registered at WFM. If you are planning to have a younger sibling attend Waterfront Montessori next year, please submit an online application through www.waterfrontmontessori.com by Monday, December 7, so that we may reserve a space for your younger child. In the ‘Other Information’ section, please indicate that you are submitting a sibling application.
As the temperature drops, please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather in a warm coat, a hat and gloves. Our playground and PE areas are right on the water and can be colder and windier than other parts of Jersey City.
This is also a good time to check the extra clothing that your child keeps at school. Please make sure he or she has the correct size of clothing, including long pants, a long sleeved shirt, socks and underwear, stored at school.
Flu Vaccine: New Jersey State Law requires all students under five years old as of October 1, 2014, who are attending school in New Jersey to receive the influenza vaccine before December 31, 2014. If your child is required to have this vaccine, please provide proof of his or her flu vaccination for our records. If we do not have proof that he or she has received the vaccine, we must exclude the child from school until he or she receives it.
If your child has had to change clothes at school and has borrowed clothing from WFM or from a classmate, please remember to launder and return the borrowed clothing to school as soon as possible. There is a charge for clothing that is not returned. We appreciate your cooperation!
We are glad to have your family as part of our WFM community. We hope that you will visit The Flow often and share what is happening at Waterfront Montessori!
